Sam Adult Care was founded by Rodney and Sherese Dial as a family-driven mission inspired by our daughter, Asia Dial, who was diagnosed with Pervasive Developmental Disorder — an autism diagnosis — at just three years old. Her diagnosis reshaped our lives and revealed our purpose.
Through Asia's journey, we learned firsthand what it means to navigate complex systems, advocate for meaningful supports, and fight for environments where individuals with developmental disabilities are understood, respected, and empowered. We experienced the challenges families face, the gaps in services, and the importance of having providers who truly listen, show compassion, and honor each person's unique strengths.
Asia taught us patience, resilience, and the power of person-centered care. She inspired us to build an agency rooted in dignity, respect, and genuine connection — an agency where individuals are supported not just with services, but with understanding and heart.
Today, Sam Adult Care stands as a reflection of our family's commitment to creating safe, supportive, and empowering spaces for individuals with developmental disabilities. Our daughter's story continues to guide our mission and shape the values we bring to every person we serve.
At Sam Adult Care, you are not just receiving services. You are joining a family that understands.
Leadership
The founders behind Sam Adult Care
Sam Adult Care isn't run from a distance. It's run by the husband-and-wife team who lived the journey that built it — and who still lead the agency themselves, day to day, across Cuyahoga County.
Rodney Dial, BSW, MPA
Co-Founder & Chief Operating Officer
Rodney holds a Bachelor of Social Work and a Master of Public Administration, and the pairing shows in how this agency is run. Social work taught him to begin with the person — their history, their strengths, and what they actually want their life to look like. Public administration taught him what it takes to deliver that reliably: the systems, the documentation, the certification standards, and the follow-through that turn good intentions into dependable care.
The training came second. Rodney learned this work first as Asia's father — in the meetings, in the paperwork, and in the slow discovery of how much a family has to know just to secure the right support. He has been on the receiving end of the system he now works inside, and he built Sam Adult Care accordingly.
Today he leads the agency day to day — DODD-certified and HPC-certified support across Cuyahoga County — and he is the first person most families speak with when they reach out.
Sherese Dial
Co-Founder
Sherese is the other half of the husband-and-wife team behind Sam Adult Care. The story this agency is built on is hers as much as Rodney's — a diagnosis at three years old that, in their own words, “reshaped our lives and revealed our purpose.”
Much of what families recognize in Sam Adult Care came out of what Sherese lived: learning the vocabulary of a complicated system, pressing for supports that genuinely fit, and coming to know the difference between a provider who processes a case and one who truly listens. Asia, as they put it, taught them “patience, resilience, and the power of person-centered care.”
That is the standard she holds this agency to — every person met with dignity, understood as an individual, and supported with heart as well as with services.
Together, Rodney and Sherese built the provider they wish their own family had had. At Sam Adult Care, you are not just receiving services — you are joining a family that understands.
